A Little Something About Me
We all know why you’re here and I’m not one to beat around the bush. Here are the essentials of “Gemma”. I went to school at Boston University and graduated in 2015 with a degree in English. According to the English department’s website, that means I was “provided with the tools of criticism and with a foundation in the study of British literature”. I think another way to say it is that I learned to research and create a discourse about whatever topic I happen to come across. In this day and age, I’ve called what I do “content creation”, but I’ve found that it’s more than that. It’s being able to tell a story that connects with people. It resounds with their experiences - oftentimes with a touch of humor involved. While my career path had been greatly unconventional, the life experiences I’ve gained along the way have allowed me to learn and grow in ways that I never could’ve imagined. Feel free to send me a message if you'd like more details in that realm (not sarcasm). Now here I am, still a Ghanaian-American girl, except now with a fancy diploma, a new title (Olympian), and with more of that coveted, "experience."

what am i up to?
Currently, I run track and field full time. When I’m not practicing, racing, or traveling to practice or a race, I work part-time position as a substitute teacher and pick up any freelance writing and/or social media work I can get my hands on. I do everything from writing articles, blog posts, and other miscellaneous things to working my "Millennial magic", as some may call it, on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. If you’re looking for a communications person, I’m more than happy to take the reins!
Of course, my other position is as a semi-professional athlete. Aside from the obvious training and running parts, my job also includes personal branding. That basically includes everything that comes with managing a popular brand on social media. I take photos, write captions, research content, check things out in real life, create compelling narratives through posts, stories, and blog posts, film videos, edit said videos, and make sure everything is on-brand at the end of the day.
What do I do with all that barely existent free time I have? I enjoy eating almost everything, reading books (when I manage to make time for it) sometimes, hanging out with my friends and family, catching up on all Netflix has to offer, taking photos of any and all scenery, looking up random facts on the Internet and repeating these facts to anyone that will listen, lounging in the sun on long summer days, and writing really long and drawn out sentences detailing what I like to do in an attempt to connect with whoever is still reading this right now.
