November 2015 Monthly Goals

I have good news and bad news about my monthly goals.

Bad news:  Unfortunately, I only achieved one of my three October goals - successfully transition back into training.

Good news:  While at first glance this seems like a major failure, I decided to figure out what the root of the problem may have been.  I think what set this goal apart from the other two (getting a 'legit' sponsor and pushing my Patreon more) was that the success of the goal depended solely on myself.  It was up to me to focus on my body and understand what I needed to do to get back into shape.  Getting a sponsor and finding supporters for my Patreon depended on other people.

No matter how much I promoted myself, the ultimate success of these goals is measured by the involvement of another person.  I'm using this revelation to adjust my goals for November to become ones that I can trace back to myself.

I want to be able to ask myself at the end of the month:

"Did I make a real attempt to achieve my goals and was that attempt successful"?

@@Making monthly goals is all good and well, but if you half-ass it, what's the point?@@

I only have two goals for November:

  1. REVAMP MY SOCIAL MEDIA.  I've fallen way behind in my personal social media management.  I think this is due to what I'll call social media burnout.  Now that I manage not only my own accounts, but also the accounts of the startup I work for, I'm finding that I've been letting my participation and scheduling has fallen to the wayside as I focus on work.  I want to find a good balance this month and learn how to schedule things weeks in advance so that when I do get bogged down, it won't be such a big deal.
  2. COMPLETE PAPER LOVESTORY'S 30-DAY JOURNALING CHALLENGE.  I've seen people do challenges like this on Instagram and Tumblr, but have never thought to participate in one myself.  I've really been into journaling and planning these past few months, and thought this would be an awesome challenge to try.  I'll post daily all throughout November on my study inspiration tumblr, so if you want to check that out and see what my answers are to the challenge questions you can find them there.

I'd love to know if you've ever had troubles with your goals.  If so, what changes did you make to fix them?
